Homecoming Gallery is proud to present a solo exhibition of British painter William Farr’s Dissolution in our Amsterdam gallery and at Art Rotterdam (March 27-29)

Dissolution marks the latest phase in Farr’s sustained investigation into painting as a site of inward attention, perceptual suspension, and the gradual release of fixed forms of subjectivity.

In an ironic contrast to our times, Dissolution, a poetic reference to many meanings, also presents a physical demonstration of letting go of the ego. Brushstroke by brushstroke, in subtle thinned layers of oil, until there is nothing left to release.

Coincidentally, it was Van Gogh’s The Sower at the National Gallery that provided the initial spark of inspiration for the palette of this remarkable body of work, which will also mark the artist’s Dutch debut.
