Loes de Boer’s (b. 1999, NL) black-and-white still-life photographs are sequences of self-portraits, mirrors of her own life and the objects that surround or transform her.
She sees female identity as a fluid concept and strives to enhance this throughout everything she does.
Building on art historian research on feminist artist icons, De Boer employs her lens to explore both her own and society’s boundaries and perspectives on identity, sexuality, and womanhood through carefully graphic and sculptural compositions. Deconstruction is at the core of her working method.
Each photograph marks a moment of transformation where introspection sheds skin to reveal the extraordinary within.
Her work moves between different disciplines, such as fashion, art, music and media.
