ZIAD ANTAR (geb. 1978, SAIDA, LIBANON) woont en werkt in Beiroet.
Zijn werk onderzoekt de materiële complexiteit van fotografie – de vergankelijkheid, de onbetrouwbaarheid en de vreemde intimiteit met het collectieve geheugen. Vaak ironisch, altijd rigoureus, onderzoeken zijn beelden wat het betekent om een foto te maken van een plek die je maar al te goed kent. Antar studeerde aan de École Supérieure d’Études Cinématographiques in Parijs en behaalde zijn postdoctorale diploma aan de École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts. Zijn werk is opgenomen in de collecties van het Centre Georges Pompidou, het British Museum en de Fondation Louis Vuitton, en is tentoongesteld in instellingen zoals MAXXI Rome, het New Museum New York en de Sharjah Art Foundation.

His practice engages with the material complexity of photography -its ephemerality, its unreliability, and its strange intimacy with collective memory. Often ironic, always rigorous, his images examine what it means to make a picture from a place you know too well. Antar trained at the École Supérieure d’Études Cinématographiques in Paris and received his post diploma from the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts. His work is held in the collections of the Centre Georges Pompidou, the British Museum, and the Fondation Louis Vuitton, and has been exhibited at institutions including MAXXI Rome, the New Museum New York, and the Sharjah Art Foundation.
