Amsterdam-based duo Aldo van den Broek and Johnny Mae Hauser may be partners in life as well as in art, but that doesn’t mean their experiences are the same. If anything, quite the contrary, as their latest exhibition at Homecoming Gallery proves.
Aldo van den Broek and Johnny Mae Hauser have more in common than you think. Yes, they’re both artists who use their work as a leverage for self-discovery and reflection but they’re also romantically intertwined; bound by a kinship that inspires them as people as well as artists. Their upcoming collaborative exhibition, Postpartum Garden, with Homecoming Gallery at Park Modern in Hyde Park this weekend sees the effects of their inspiration take hold only for the viewer to realise both artists’ recent journeys of discovery have taken very separate paths; not out of intention or even disagreement but simply because of the way they see the world and more importantly, how they view their role as new parents within it.
