Derrick Ofosu Boateng, born in Accra in 1998, is a self-taught fine art photographer known for his pioneering role in defining the term ‘Hueism.’ Family is a central theme in Boateng’s work, deeply rooted in his upbringing and the influence of his father, a wise man of the Ashanti people. His extended family, including aunts, uncles, brothers, and sisters, often feature in his art, which reflects the communal and interconnected nature of African life.
The exhibition, which features a collection of iconic works, celebrates the concept of Motherhood.
‘Motherhood is a nurturing force and a gentle miracle. The first place of comfort comes from the womb, a soft tissue that gently breaks introducing us to a much colder world. I believe our mothers are spirits that are filled with love that goes beyond the physical to guide and protect us eternally till we are no more.’
