La Cama is a photographic series made in Mexico City by photographer Pia Riverola and stylist and creative director Chino Castilla, developed with spatial designer Javier Irigoyen around one recurring element: the bed, sometimes occupied, sometimes shared, sometimes empty. Drawing on nineteenth-century painting, cinema and Mexican architecture, the series pairs theatrical scale and painterly tradition with intimacy between real couples and friends. The bed becomes a private stage for play with desire and identity, where the subjects, alone or together, are permitted to be exposed.
