Ziad Antar

Ziad Antar (b. 1978, Saida, Lebanon) lives and works in Beirut. His practice engages with the material complexity of photography -its ephemerality, its unreliability, and its strange intimacy with collective memory. Often ironic, always rigorous, his images examine what it means to make a picture from a place you know too well. Antar trained at the École Supérieure d’Études Cinématographiques in Paris and received his post-diploma from the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts. His work is held in the collections of the Centre Georges Pompidou, the British Museum, and the Fondation Louis Vuitton, and has been exhibited at institutions including MAXXI Rome, the New Museum New York, and the Sharjah Art Foundation.
