Gvantsa Jishkariani

b. 1991, Tbilisi

Gvantsa Jishkariani (b. 1991) is a multimedia artist and curator based in Tbilisi, Georgia. She graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at the Tbilisi State Academy of Fine Arts and later completed a master's in Creative Mediation at CCA-Tbilisi.

Jishkariani is fascinated by Soviet-propagandistic arts and traditional craft techniques, and her work investigates the imprints left by the past alongside the images and influences of today and tomorrow. Humour often features in her exploration of deeply personal and socially relevant topics, delving into precarious situations and extreme vulnerability while demonstrating remarkable resilience.

She has exhibited widely in Georgia and internationally, including in New York, Munich, Brussels, Vienna, Prague, Zurich and Naples, with recent solo exhibitions at Industra (Brno, 2026), Souvenir Gallery (Barcelona, 2026) and Raster Gallery (Warsaw, 2025). She received CICA Vancouver's Emerging & Mid-Career Award (2025), was named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 list (2020), and received a NARS Foundation Studio Grant (2019). Alongside her practice, she co-founded PATARA Gallery (2017) and The Why Not Gallery (2018) in Tbilisi, and founded Georgia's first contemporary art and fashion magazine, Gar-Gar (2013-2018).
