POSTPARTUM GARDEN
A duo solo exhibition by Amsterdam artists Aldo van den Broek and Johnny Mae Hauser. During their first summer living and working in parallel as a new family, two separate yet intertwined collections emerged, reflecting their distinct perspectives. In Postpartum Garden, van den Broek explores the themes of growth and decay, along with the fragility of new life. His work employs structures, tonalism, and symbolism to contemplate the transformation and resilience found in motherhood.
Conversely, Hauser’s abstract series die Welle examines the tension between the self and the other, where the boundaries of identity blur and redefine. As both artists navigate their evolving identities during moments of profound change, this duo exhibition showcases their intricate—and at times opposing—journeys of self-discovery.
